As you may know Forest City Ratner Companies
is working with the New York State Association of Minority
Contractors (NYSAMC) and Brooklyn United for Innovative Local
Development (BUILD), and others to ensure the maximum practicable
level of minority and women owned business participation in
the construction of Brooklyn's Atlantic Yards Project. Concurrent
with the public approval process, preparations are underway
to advertise construction contract opportunities. As part
of that process you are invited to attend a trade specific
working session whose purpose is to introduce representatives
of larger construction companies to M/WBE and local firms
who have the capability and interest to participate as subcontractors.
There are four trade specific working sessions scheduled as
follows:
Thursday,
May 25: 10:30am - 12pm: General site:
scope of work includes excavation, support of excavation,
underground plumbing, grading, backfilling, asphalt paving,
subballast, stair tower, utility hook-ups, temporary MSE ramp,
permanent concrete ramp, maintenance and protection of traffic.
Thursday, May 25: 12pm - 1pm: Bridge: scope
of work includes the demolition of the Carlton Ave Bridge
superstructure and abutments, cofferdams, excavation, new
abutments, new superstructure; installation of a railroad
trestle, caissons, maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT)
Tuesday, May 30: 9am - 10:30 am: Electrical:
scope of work includes 750V traction power substation, conduit,
cable, relocation of 27KV service, maintenance and protection
of traffic.
Tuesday, May 30: 10:30 - 12pm:
Track/switch: scope of work includes yard track on
concrete ties, switches, ballast, grade crossings and snow
melters. You will maximize your opportunities by attending
the session(s) that includes work that you specialize in.
Be prepared to discuss your qualifications and have all the
necessary contact information/company brochures available
for dissemination to multiple contractors.
We

be held at: Atlantic Yards Information Center, Atlantic Center,
625 Atlantic Avenue, 3rd Floor, Brooklyn.
